Maastricht - European City of Learning
Maastricht is the most Bourgondian city in the Netherlands. Located in the southernmost tip of the Netherlands, it is wedged between the Dutch and French-speaking parts of Belgium and Germany. Boasting an internationally-oriented multilingual population, Maastricht lies in the centre of an extraordinarily interesting, varied and superbly accessible cultural area. Maastricht attracts 7 million visitors a year, from the Netherlands and abroad.

Maastricht Academy of Music, Maastricht Drama Academy [Dutch: Toneelacademie], the Academy of Fine Arts Maastricht [Dutch: Academie Beeldende Kunsten], Academy of Architecture Maastricht [Dutch: Academie voor Bouwkunst] and the Jan van Eyck Academy have put Maastricht squarely on the international art map, attracting countless Dutch and foreign artists and art students. Together with the other (non-art) faculties of Zuyd University and Maastricht University, they have cemented Maastricht's reputation as a City of Learning.
