Tuition fees 2011 - 2012
Important:
Recent legislation has led to a major increase in the tuition fee paid by Dutch students who already have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and want to do a second course of study. Such students will need to pay EUR 6800 a year. Exceptions are made for students in the field of healthcare and teaching. This means that students who take the Music in Education [Docent Muziek] programme as a second course of study need only pay the standard tuition fee of EUR 1713 a year (assuming that they have not already finished a course of study in the field of healthcare or teaching). The same applies to students from other EU countries who have not taken a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Netherlands; they also pay the standard tuition fee. The link below will take you to a flow chart which will help you determine whether you need to pay the statutory tuition fee or the institutional tuition fee.

Statutory tuition fee
The statutory tuition fee for a full-time course of study at the Maastricht Academy of Music is EUR 1713. It is payable by students:

  1. who, according to the Central Register of Students in Higher Education, when registering for a Bachelor’s degree programme have not already gained a Bachelor’s degree or when registering for a Master’s degree programme have not already gained a Master’s degree;
  2. who are resident in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, or one of the German federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, or Bremen;
  3. who belong to one of the groups of persons within the meaning of Section 2.2 of the Student Finance Act 2000 [Wet studiefinanciering 2000], or hold Surinamese nationality.

Condition 1 above does not apply to students who are taking a programme in education or healthcare for the first time.

Institutional tuition fee for Zuyd University
The institutional tuition fee for a full-time programme at the Maastricht Academy of Music is EUR 6800 for a Bachelor’s degree programme and for a Master’s degree programme.

The institutional tuition fee is payable by anyone wishing to register for a full-time programme to whom the statutory tuition fee does not apply, with the exception of non EU/EEA students who entered the Academy prior to the 2009–2010 academic year.
