Moving Concerts by Conservatorium Maastricht

In the Moving Concerts, Conservatorium Maastricht collaborates with concert stages in the Euregion. This way they provide concert opportunities for top ensembles, top soloists and other larger ensembles or orchestras. This way, the Euregion can experience what these young musicians can offer, and students can experience how a professional performing career might be like. These young musicians, or ‘moving musicians’, learn about a professional attitude next to their excellent performance quality, which will help them in their professional career. The ‘moving musician’ touches, affects, thrills…

28 April 2024, 11.30 - 13.00 - Theater aan het Vrijthof - Massimiliano Testa & Edoardo Gatta (Guitar)

With Edoardo Gatta and Massimiliano Testa, Theater aan het Vrijthof welcomes two young and virtuoso guitarists, who are studying for a bachelor's and master's degree at Conservatorium Maastricht with Carlo Marchione. In this programme, they will 'speak' as a duo and as soloists.

Edoardo Gatta links tradition and innovation in his practice as a solo and chamber musician, where historical research serves the needs of our time and collaboration with emerging composers results in new and contemporary guitar music.

Massimiliano Testa believes that personal expression and emotional involvement of the audience leads to a higher eagerness for mutual understanding and sense of community.

With two different but parallel programmes, Massimiliano and Edoardo will delight the audience with some of the best music that the guitar repertoire can offer, ranging from Dowland’s and Telemann’s Fantasias to Aguado’s and Regondi’s Romantic Rondos, concluding with the more modern works by Takemitsu and Brouwer.

On top of a virtuosic solo performance, the two friends will conclude the concert with two Spanish dances by E. Granados, in a version for guitar duo.
