Jan Cober receives provincial medal of honourExceptional merit as a conductor, teacher and musician
Jan Cober, lecturer at Conservatorium Maastricht and conductor of wind band Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile in Eijsden, has received the medal of honour of the Province of Limburg. Governor Theo Bovens presented the medal during the band’s Whitsun concert at Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht.
Cober was awarded the medal for his exceptional merit as a conductor, teacher and musician over a period of more than forty years. The province considers Cober to be the ultimate ambassador for Limburg wind music, with great international renown. His achievements in the world of music had already been acknowledged in 2004, when he was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
