Leader of Camerata Salzburg Gregory Ahss is coming over for an unconducted programme with Schubert and Mozart by Conservatorium Maastricht Chamber Orchestra. Conservatorium Maastricht lecturer and celebrated soloist Yuzuko Horigome is playing solo.
Violinist Yuzuko Horigome (1957) has brought her virtuosity and rich musical mind to audiences all over the world. She appeared as a soloist with the world’s greatest orchestras, including the London Symphony, Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, St Petersburg Philharmonic and New York Philharmonic. As a professor at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and Conservatorium Maastricht she is often on the jury at numerous international competitions.
The Israeli violinist Gregory Ahss studied in Moscow, in Tel Aviv and in Boston. As a student he founded the Tal Trio, which received numerous awards. In 2004 he made his solo debut under Claudio Abbado and performed / recorded regularly with him ever since. As a soloist he has played under conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniel Blendulf and Andrés Orozco Estrada. Among his chamber music partners are N. Gutman, J. Jansen, E. Pahud, G. Capuçon, N. Altstaed, A. Melnikov and S. Meyer. He has also performed as a duo partner with Pinchas Zukerman. Gregory has appeared as a guest concertmaster with ensembles like the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart, Belgrade Philharmonic and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, leading from the violin. He is concertmaster of Camerata Salzburg and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
