Adrie Bisschop


Adrie Bisschop (born 1956) has taught Bassoon, Contrabassoon, Methodology and Chamber Music in the Classical Music department of Conservatorium Maastricht since 1983. He is also an academic guidance counsellor. He teaches private lessons and masterclasses. He studied Bassoon with Paul Paulissen at Conservatorium Maastricht, as well as Chamber Music and Double Bassoon. He attended international chamber music courses in Sweden during his studies.

He has been principal bassoonist with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra (now philharmonie zuidnederland), with which he recorded several CDs, since 1978. He has played many solo bassoon concertos by composers including Mozart, Von Weber, and Vivaldi, and has performed with various orchestras, including the Limburg Symphony Orchestra and the Military Band Grand Duchy Luxembourg. He has also performed with chamber ensembles such as the Nederlands Piano-Sextet, the Amati Chamber Orchestra, the Parkstad Kamerorkest, Contraint, Helikon and various wind quintets.

Starting in the mid-1970s, he has done concert tours in former Czechoslovakia, Spain (with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra), Japan (with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra), the United States and Canada (with Stichting Gamma and the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy), and Germany, France, and Belgium (with various orchestras including the Limburg Symphony Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra). Bisschop also performs as a substitute with symphony orchestras in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
