Hans Leenders


Hans Leenders is artistic director of the professional chamber choir Studium Chorale and vocal ensemble Cantatrix as well as artistic advisor of the Dutch Gregorian Chant festival and the festival l’Europe & l’Orgue.

He is a principal teacher for organ at Conservatorium Maastricht, conductor of the conservatorium choir and Basilica choir Maastricht, and teaches Gregorian chant at the Folkwang-University of Arts in Essen (Germany) during summer-courses.

Hans Leenders is the principal organist of the Basilica of our Lady in Maastricht (Séverin 1652, Müseler 1765?) and organist-titular in the Kopermolen in Vaals (Hilgers 1765). He has appeared as guest conductor with Radio-choir Slovenia, Groot Omroepkoor, Cappella Amsterdam, Europa Cantat, and several conservatoires in Europe.

Hans Leenders has participated in orchestral productions with Philharmonie Zuidnederland, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, Concerto d’Amsterdam, Florilegium Musicum and Ensemble ’88 (specialising in contemporary music).

As a composer, he is known especially for his vocal music. Famous works are Patina for music theatre and the oratorio De Veertien Stonden. Editions by Ascolta, Harmonia and De Haske.
