Hans Nickel (born 1958) is a lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at Conservatorium Maastricht. In addition, he teaches Tuba and Euphonium at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, the Orchesterzentrum NRW Dortmund and at the Ausbildungsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr, Germany. He regularly works as a guest lecturer in educational institutions around the world.
Nickel studied Tuba, Euphonium, Wind Band and Brass Band Conducting at Conservatorium Maastricht. He has been the Solo Tuba with the WDR Sinfonie Orchester Köln for nearly thirty years, but also performed as a guest with many renowned orchestras and often as a soloist-including appearances with his own orchestra in the prestigious Philharmonie Köln, with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava and the Staatsorchester Braunschweig.
As a chamber musician, Nickel performs with his Brass Quintet, Brass Consort Köln, but also with unusual combinations of instruments, often combining world premieres with high-end concert performances.
