Composer and conductor Ludo Claesen (born 1956) teaches Choral Conducting and Choral Singing at Conservatorium Maastricht. At the Lemmens Institute in Leuven (Belgium) he teaches Polyphony and Orchestral Performance. He has taught at various music schools in Belgian Limburg for many years. He studied Percussion, Composing, and Choral and Orchestral Conducting at the Lemmens Institute and at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp.

As a performer, he has given concerts in various European countries, Israel, the Ukraine, the USA and South Korea. He has been a guest conductor for many orchestras and choruses, including the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Flanders, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine), the Dutch Promenade Orchestra, the Philharmonisches Kammerorchester Köln, the Flemish Radio Choir, the Chorus of the Vlaamse Opera, the Middelburg Bach Choir, the Studium Chorale chamber choir of Maastricht and the JEJU Philharmonic Choir. He has participated in productions of the Musica Sacra Festival, the Maatschappij tot Bevordering der Toonkunst, and the Choir Academy in Bruges. For many years he has managed events such as "Limburg Zingt," "Flandria Cantat," and various projects of the Limburgse Oratorium Vereniging, such as Carmina Burana.

He currently conducts the Kathedraalkoor Hasselt, the Königliches Männerquartett Eupen, the Cappella Concinite Leuven and the Kamerkoor Maastricht. Ludo Claesen has been awarded a number of prizes in the Netherlands and in Belgium. His compositions have been awarded several international prizes (Rome, Verona, Leeuwarden, Brussels, Antwerp, etc.). He has made many radio, television and CD recordings. A number of his compositions have been recorded on CD: “Claesen meets Claesen” – sacred music composed and conducted by L. Claesen (2010).
