Marc Schaeferdiek (born 1967) studied Oboe with, among others, Prof. P. W. Feit, Prof. I. Goritzki and B. Holz. In his youth he received several awards at the national level of Jugend Musiziert as well as a cultural prize from the city of Aachen (Germany). Important moments in his musical career include solo concerts in Germany and abroad, performances with well-known orchestras such as the Gürzenich orchestra in Cologne and WDR Rundfunksinfonieorchester Cologne, as well as many appearances as a chamber musician.
He has taught Oboe and Chamber Music at the Musikhochschule Köln/Aachen since 2001 and at the Musikhochschule Köln/Wuppertal in Germany since 2006. In 2009 he was appointed as a lecturer in Oboe at Conservatorium Maastricht.
In addition to his work as a teacher and performer, he set up his repair workshop The Oboe (www.die-oboe.de) in 1996, which attracts customers from all over the world. He has also written two books: The Oboe Doctor and the oboe tutorial Oboenbasis. He also gives regular masterclasses and workshops for oboe performance, reed making, and instrument making in countries such as America, Austria, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Korea, Sweden, Latvia, Luxembourg, Israel, etc.
