Sigrid Paans (born 1976) has been the Head of the Jazz department at Conservatorium Maastricht since September 2015. In 2014, she held this position for a year as an interim manager. Before coming to Maastricht, she was a coordinator/project leader in the Jazz department of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam for nine years. In addition to producing large-scale big band, orchestra and ensemble projects, she was responsible for an extensive Artist-in-Residence and guest lecturers' programme. She was closely involved in setting up and developing sponsor-related activities, such as the Keep an Eye Jazz Award, a competition for Dutch and foreign students, and Keep an Eye 'the Records’. Under her leadership, the International Summer Jazz Workshop, organised in collaboration with the Manhattan School of Music NY, grew into a leading educational programme with scholarships for top talents.

Paans is a board member of the Jazz Maastricht Foundation and the successful Amsterdam Jazzfest; a festival with promising projects, improvisation and young talent, but also an event where traditional jazz and established artists meet a young audience. She is also a member of the board of the North Sea Jazz Club programme foundation in Amsterdam.

Sigrid Paans studied Classical Piano and Music in Education at Conservatorium Maastricht. After her graduation, she went on to study Music Management at the Fontys School for Higher Education in Economics and Management in Tilburg and worked as a music teacher at Newman College in Breda. She also worked in the Jazz & Pop department of the ArtEZ School of Music in Arnhem for several years.

Paans is a board member of the Jazz Maastricht Foundation and the successful Amsterdam Jazzfest; a festival with promising projects, improvisation and young talent, but also an event where traditional jazz and established artists meet a young audience.
