Instrumental studies
Oboe

Studying Oboe at Conservatorium Maastricht means embarking on an intensive artistic journey in which you develop your individual talent with internationally renowned teachers, many of whom hold principal positions in leading European orchestras. The programme offers a personal approach with tailored study plans in a safe and supportive environment.

In the Bachelor’s programme, you will focus on building a solid and healthy technical foundation, including breathing, posture, finger technique, sound production, vibrato, articulation, and reed-making. Over four years, you will explore the standard repertoire and gradually begin working on audition repertoire, while also participating in audition training alongside Master’s students. The programme includes weekly lessons, audition training, performance classes, reed-making lessons with state-of-the-art equipment, career planning support, and annual guest masterclasses.

In the Master’s programme, you will consolidate your technique and focus on preparing for a professional career as an orchestral oboist. This includes advanced audition repertoire, audition simulations, mental and physical preparation for performance situations, further reed-making development, and an in-depth exploration of orchestral repertoire. The Master’s programme supports your transition into professional life, helping you become an independent artist in close collaboration with your teachers, alongside continued lessons, training, and masterclasses.
