Jazz Vocal

Studying Jazz Vocals at Conservatorium Maastricht means choosing an intensive period in which you develop your individual talent, together with others in a band, combo, choir or close harmony project. The curriculum gradually adds challenges: writing sheet music, making solo transcriptions, scat singing and improvising, writing your own songs and compositions, forming and leading your own band, and plenty of live performing during exams, jam sessions and concerts. You work on range, dynamics, tone, blending registers, breathing, resonance and interpretation, guided by our diverse team of vocal teachers. In the bachelor's programme you focus on traditional jazz, from swing to blues, and you're encouraged to write your own songs, while over four years you develop your own profile and vision as an artist. The Master’s programme will allow you to focus on researching and deepening your knowledge of specific areas that are of particular interest to you.
