Combined studies

Having Maastricht University and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in the same city makes it tempting to take up a second degree course or even a second main subject. We understand that all too well. We ask you to think carefully before doing this, however.

In practice it can be difficult to schedule all the different classes, so you miss quite a lot, and we know from experience that the workload is usually so high that one of your courses will suffer. It would be a shame if that happened. The workload of the degree programmes at Conservatorium Maastricht is at least 40 hours a week. In addition to our lessons, you need to spend time studying, working on projects with other students and performing, for example. These things are really important for the development of your musical talent.

If you still want to do a second degree or main subject, you will have to discuss this with us before the start of the academic year. In this case, please contact the Head of your department. The Jazz department is led by Sigrid Paans. Susanne van Els is in charge of the Classical Music department, and the Music in Education department is headed by Marc Rutten.
