About Romain Pilon

Described by Jazzwise magazine as “a brilliant improviser,” French guitarist and composer Romain Pilon has, over the years, built a strong reputation in the world of jazz guitar. He began playing the instrument at the age of 10, exploring all kinds of music before studying at the conservatory and eventually earning a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

His time there culminated in opening for Pat Metheny, representing the guitar department and its more than 1,000 students. He then spent a year in New York, taking part in numerous jam sessions and playing in jazz clubs every night.

In 2004, he decided to settle in Paris. His love for jazz in all its forms, his personal style, and his deep listening skills have made him a highly sought-after sideman. He has shared the stage and/or recorded with a wide range of artists, including Christian Scott, Keyon Harrold, Baptiste Trotignon, the Keystone Big Band, Linda May Han Oh, Sam Yahel, Will Vinson, Marc Copland, Pierre de Bethmann, Peter Bernstein, Stéphane Belmondo, Clarence Penn, Greg Hutchinson, among others.
