Jos Zegers

About the Conductor

Jos Zegers started his musical career on the oboe at the age of 8. In 2001, alongside his studies in Business Economics at Maastricht University, he began his oboe studies at Conservatorium Maastricht, where he graduated with honors in 2006. In 2011, he once again graduated with honors, this time in conducting, from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. In 2009, he reached the semi-finals of the international conducting competition at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, becoming the youngest participant at the time. In 2015, he won the international conducting competition "Con Brio" in Innsbruck, Austria, once again as the youngest participant.

From 2016 to 2022, he served as the chief conductor of the Bundespolizeiorchester München, a 46-member professional orchestra. He also worked as a guest conductor with the Polizeiorchester Bayern and has been leading the Fanfare Eensgezindheid Maasbracht since 2018. In February 2019, he made his debut as a guest conductor with the Munich Symphony Orchestra.

As of October 1, 2022, he has been appointed as the chief conductor of the Fanfare "Bereden Wapens" in Vught. Additionally, as of September 1, 2022, he has been appointed as the main subject teacher for Wind/Brass Band Conducting Conservatorium Maastricht. He is also actively involved as a jury member with the KNMO (Royal Dutch Wind Music Association) and international music associations.

Juan Sebastián Ramírez Fajardo 

About the Soloist

Juan Sebastián Ramírez Fajardo is a Colombian clarinetist based in the Netherlands. He completed his Master’s degree in Clarinet at the Conservatorium Maastricht in 2023, where he studied with Roeland Hendrikx. 

He has performed in the United States, Colombia, and across Latin America, and his repertoire includes solo works, chamber music, and Colombian and Latin American music. He has participated in festivals such as ClariBogotá, ClarinetPasto, ClariSax Medellín, the Festival Internacional de Música de Cartagena, and FEMUSC (Brazil), where he worked with Gabriele Mirabassi, Paulo Sérgio Santos, and Laura Ruiz Ferreres. 

He is a former member of the ClarInés Clarinet Quartet, with whom he won a national chamber music competition in Colombia and performed at DePaul University (Chicago) and Colorado State University, and the Auca Clarinet Quartet (Maastricht), with whom he participated in the AIMS Summer Course in Solsona (Spain) and performed in Italy. 

Juan currently performs with Harmonie Wilhelmina Wolder, is an active member of the Maastricht Kammer Orkest (MKO), and collaborates in several chamber music projects throughout the region.
