We believe in our master students having a powerful insight in Jazz Music being ready to inspire the next generation of musicians inside and outside the Conservatory. The Outreach program is designed to assist in bringing quality jazz education and/or performances to schools and community locations.
The first year Master students organize a workshop, lecture, multi topic, instrument related, style related, pedagogical or conceptual work with direct impact towards their younger fellow students. Depending on the topic the duration of the workshop is 2 hours including a practical session for Bachelor students or a specific group of bachelor students. The master student is welcome to share his/her expertise. The date of the workshop is picked in the beginning of the school year. Two weeks before the workshop the master coach has a session with the master student about content and material for the workshop. After the 2 hour session a short evaluation will take place.
In the second year the Master student organizes a workshop outside or inside the conservatory. The contact to the schools in the region, jazzbands, big bands, music schools, non-profit organizations corporations and cultural institutions to bring jazz to their communities. The master coach assists in choosing a topic depending on the institution – suitable for the amount of listeners/participants.
We also aspire to create experiences that mesh jazz with other performing arts disciplines such as theater, visual arts and dance and introducing jazz to tomorrow’s teachers and virtuosos and build bridges to the community schools and regional networks.
