Asia Zakhareva and Sachit Ajmani involved in new exhibition Van Abbemuseum

2 December 2021

The exhibition presents over 25 multi-sensory tools, including texts in Braille, scent interpretations, tactile drawings and soundscapes, making it the first fully multi-sensory collection display in the Netherlands. More information can be found here.

The auditory portraits provided by Asja and Sachit as a part of a multi-sensory setting enable people with restricted vision (as well as just all other interested people) to approach art not only visually, but also through listening experience.

Sachit Ajmani was responsible for creating music and his artistic result already received positive feedback from the audience. This was also mentioned in an  article by the NRC. Asia Zakhareva created the idea and proposal and curated the process as well as created texts to introduce the music to the public.

Other students who were involved are Eleonora Yung (cello), Kristine Paseka (soprano), Heiður Lára Bjarnadóttir (cello), Chelsea Balmer (harp), Francesco Bellomo (percussion) and employee Louis van Eeten (recording in the studio). Without this team nothing would have been possible.

We are proud that our students managed to realize this! Wonderful!
