Michaël Kugel

Michaël Kugel (1946) studied violin at the Beethoven School of Music and at the Music College in Kharkov (USSR). Later he studied viola, composition and conducting at the Leningrad Conservatory in St. Petersburg. In the USSR he was the soloist at the Moscow Philharmonic Organisation 'Mosconcert', violist of the Beethoven State Quartet and lecturer at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Kugel taught at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance from 1990 to 1996. In 1996 he settled in Belgium, where is now a lecturer at the Gent Royal Conservatory (Belgium). At Conservatorium Maastricht, he teaches Viola in the Classical Music department. Michaël Kugel has played as a soloist with many major symphony orchestras around the world and also performed as a conductor with numerous orchestras.
