In his spare time, he is active as a pop musician and has performed at Pinkpop with his band MADI. He works as a presenter for competitions including Kunstbende and Grote Prijs van Nederland, and is a regular guest on the regional television programme Avondgasten to give his views on education or music. Finally, he is a board member of the Limburg Pop Music Foundation.

Sander Ruijters (1984) is als docent poppracticum, instituutspracticum, popmuziekgeschiedenis, basic teaching skills, coordinator van de Popweek en lid van de opleidingscommissie, verbonden aan de afdeling Docent Muziek van het Conservatorium Maastricht. Voor de afdeling Klassiek en Jazz is hij werkzaam als docent music as a profession en basic teaching skills. Sinds 2015 geeft hij ook CKV aan de interfacultaire samenwerking tussen het conservatorium en de kunstacademie Maastricht.
In 2008 behaalde hij zijn Docent Muziek diploma aan het Conservatorium Maastricht en ging hij aan de slag als muziekdocent aan het Connect College te Echt waar hij tot op heden muziekdocent is binnen het VMBO, HAVO en VWO. Ook is hij actief popmuzikant. Tot 2011 was hij als muzikant voornamelijk actief in het cover circuit. In 2011 speelde hij met zijn band MADI op Pinkpop.
Verder werkt hij als presentator voor onder andere Kunstbende en de Grote prijs van Nederland. Hij is bestuurslid van Stichting Popmuziek Limburg en was tot 2014 technicus in de Marlstone studio. Ook zit Sander Ruijters vaak aan tafel bij het programma Avondgasten van L1 om zijn visie over onderwijs of muziek te geven.

Sander Ruijters (born 1984) is a lecturer in Pop Music Training, Institutional Teaching Practice, Pop Music History, music as a profession, basic teaching skills, coordinator Popweek and member of the education committe, in the Music in Education department of Conservatorium Maastricht. He also works for the Classical Music and Jazz departments as a lecturer in Music as a Profession and Basic Teaching Skills. Since 2015 he has been teaching CKV (Cultural and Artistic Appreciation) as part of the interfaculty collaboration between Conservatorium Maastricht and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Sander Ruijters also teaches music at Connect College in Echt.
