Sam David Wamper studied jazz piano with Frank Giebels and classical piano with Avi Schönfeld at Conservatorium Maastricht. He continued his studies at the Conservatory of Rotterdam (Codarts) where he studied composition and music theory, after which he obtained a degree in Music Education at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
Wamper was taught by the composers Peter-Jan Wagemans, Robin de Raaff, Klaas de Vries and the late Luc Brewaeys. He composed various commissions, amongst others a short piano concerto for the Residentie Orchestra, various chamber music pieces and three set pieces for the international Orlando Festival in 2015, 2017 and 2022. Wamper’s compositions have been performed in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Bozar Bruxelles, and other venues in Europe, Australia and China.
Sam Wamper teaches aural skills / ear training at the jazz department of Conservatorium Maastricht and the classical and world music departments in Codarts, Rotterdam.
