Henriette Hustinx prizes

Classical Jazz Concert Award

Livestream - Toneelacademie Maastricht - Lenculenstraat 31-33

19:00

The Henriette Hustinx prize (three times Euro 5,000) is awarded annually to a student of the art departments of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences who excels in his or her field and who is full of promise for the future. The amount for each of the three prizes is five thousand euros.

The prize is named after a sister of Edmond Hustinx, Henriette Hustinx, teacher at the Academy of Visual Arts of Maastricht College. In 1961, one of the first acts of The Edmond Hustinx foundation was to set up this Henriette Hustinx prize, intended to honour the most successful student – or matriculant, as this individual is called. The Edmond Hustinx foundation also set up a music prize for the Conservatory and the Institute of Performative Arts.

For Music, this years nominees are:

- Anna Gunnarsdottir
- Sachit Ajmani
- Freya Wolf

These three students have been selected because of their vision on the 'Moving Musician'.
To move is a very interesting word, as it can be interpreted in many ways. You can be moved by something, or you could move something or someone literally or figuratively. How is the relationship between the musician nowadays and the constant changing society or cultural sector he or she operates in? At Conservatorium Maastricht we have the ambition to stimulate students to become moving musicians: musicians that are moved by what happens in society. But also musicians that want to make society and the cultural sector move because we believe that this is one of the ways to become a musician that can make a living through music.

The award ceremony takes place at the Toneelacademie Maastricht on 21 October 2022.
The event is also livestreamed.
