After two highly successful masterclasses in the 2023-2024 season, Michael League and Bill Laurance return to Conservatorium Maastricht as part of their Keeping Company tour.
Masterclass Schedule
13:00 – 14:30 | Plenary Session
A deep dive into key musical concepts, including:
- Insights into their repertoire
- A demonstration of their creative process
- Groove development in duo and band settings
- Songwriting and arranging techniques
- Leading and coordinating large international ensembles
- Q&A session
15:00 – 16:30 | Breakout Sessions
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in smaller, focused sessions with Michael League and Bill Laurance separately.
About Michael League
Michael League is a 5-time Grammy Award-winning musician based in Catalonia, Spain. He is the creator and bandleader of instrumental music ensemble Snarky Puppy and blues/world group Bokanté, founder of the record label and music curation source GroundUP Music, and co-founder/artistic director of the GroundUP Music Festival.
Michael is passionately committed to music education and outreach, having given clinics and masterclasses at over 200 schools around the world. In 2020, Michael and GroundUP Music Festival director Paul Lehr launched the GroundUP Music Foundation, dedicated to community enrichment through the arts.

An expressive composer and proficient bandleader, Bill Laurance, the five-time Grammy winning pianist and composer and founding member of fusion powerhouse Snarky Puppy, continues to explore an exciting range of sounds and ensemble combinations.
