Belgian composer, accordionist and pianist Tuur Florizoone comes to Conservatorium Maastricht on December 14 for a musical presentation, life story and acquaintance with our jazz department including improvisational interplay!
At the age of 17, Tuur went to Brazil for a year (with accordion) and discovered a new, percussive way of making music. Soon he was playing in several groups, taking workshops with Nana Vasconselos, among others, and gaining unforgettable experiences.
Tuur Florizoone has quickly become one of the most beloved musicians in Belgium. With his irresistible stage presence, he has shown that an accordion is capable of much more than the usual street corner hoempapa.... In 2008, at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards, audiences fell like a log for his passionate score for the Flemish film Aanrijding in Moscou. Melancholic, simple melodies that set the stage for a broad palette of emotions and colors are Tuur's forte. With a minimum of means, making as much music as possible.
Own label In 2010, Tuur founded his own music label 'Aventura Musica', which has already released 10 records.
In July 1999 Tuur founded the group 'Tricycle' (www.tricycle.be) with bassist Vincent Noiret and Philippe Laloy on soprano sax.
Together with tubist Michel Massot and cellist Marine Horbaczewsi, Tuur forms the trio 'Massot/Florizoone/Horbaczewski.
