Are you okay?
Conservatorium Maastricht is a diverse and multicultural community. Although the phenomenon of music binds all our students and staff, we are conscious of the wide variety of views and perspectives. Each individual colleague or student brings different norms and values from their homeland or culture into the classroom. Music cultures differ greatly too; take the classical orchestral world, the jazz scene and the domain of Dutch music education. We want to acknowledge and celebrate these differences.
Simultaneously, we must be aware that social safety and what is considered 'normal', undesirable, or even unacceptable behaviour may differ between cultures and individuals.
The type of education we provide, with many private lessons and a lot of personal attention, is a great asset but also brings risks that we would like to face. This means that we are going through a process of change in our institution. Future updates and additions will be added to this page later.
At Conservatorium Maastricht, we aim to create a pleasant and safe environment for working and learning. We implement various measures to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and protected, enabling you to pursue your musical development optimally from this secure foundation.
The current offerings include:
The Code of Conduct
We proudly present to you The Conservatorium Maastricht Code of Conduct: a set of values, rules, standards, and principles outlining what we expect from one another when it comes to social safety and security. In addition, we also hope this code will be a tool for dialogue with each other on these topics.
In this document you will find:
• the principles of social safety;
• what is considered unacceptable behavior;
• how to act in the event of social safety issues;
• consequences of reported incidents;
• relevant contacts and links.

Social Safety Sessions
Dialogue is essential, especially if there are questions that you want to ask. This is why we have planned special Social Safety Sessions for students about the implementation of the Code of Conduct.
These Social Safety Sessions will provide a safe space in which you can discuss the code of conduct with fellow students, dilemma's, and ask questions you may have. These questions can be asked anonymously as well.
At a later date, sessions will also be planned specifically for our teachers.
