During this festival, students of the Conservatorium Maastricht collaborate with guest lecturers Shunske Sato, Shuann Chai and Katharina Verhaar. Whether you are a lover of chamber music, an aspiring musician or looking for a new experience, everybody is welcome to join this festival.

Katharina Verhaar
Katharina Verhaar grew up in Austria and started playing the oboe at age 10. She studied at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien and Mozarteum Salzburg, gaining experience with orchestras like the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Volksoper Vienna. Her passion for historically informed performance led to studies with experts such as Andreas Helm and Alfredo Bernardini. She was a member of the European Union Baroque Orchestra (2013/14) and now plays with ensembles like The English Concert and Freiburger Barockorchester. Since 2022, she has been a core member of the Netherlands Bach Society and develops educational projects.

Shuann Chai
Shuann Chai is a pianist specializing in both early and modern instruments, praised for her expressive and virtuosic performances. She has appeared at major festivals and venues across Europe and Asia, collaborating with ensembles like the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam. Her 2024–2025 season features the release of Beethoven: Complete Sonatas for Piano and Violin with Shunske Sato (Cobra Records). Previous recordings include Extemporize – Schubert’s Impromptus and Early Fugues (Classica Magazine CHOC, 2024) and works for fortepiano by Beethoven and Kuhlau (Ramée Records).

Shunske Sato
Shunske Sato is a violinist, conductor, and teacher known for his dynamic approach to historically informed performance. As a soloist and director, he collaborates with period ensembles and symphonic orchestras worldwide, including staged productions. Based in the Netherlands, he has been a faculty member at the Amsterdam Conservatory since 2013, teaching historical violin and giving masterclasses. From 2013 to 2023, he was artistic leader and concertmaster of the Netherlands Bach Society.
