Moving Concerts by Conservatorium Maastricht

In the Moving Concerts, Conservatorium Maastricht collaborates with concert stages in the Euregion. This way they provide concert opportunities for top ensembles, top soloists and other larger ensembles or orchestras. This way, the Euregion can experience what these young musicians can offer, and students can experience how a professional performing career might be like. These young musicians, or ‘moving musicians’, learn about a professional attitude next to their excellent performance quality, which will help them in their professional career. The ‘moving musician’ touches, affects, thrills…

About Ondine Quartet
Ondine is the name that Enrica Morbiducci (violin), Sara Manaresi (violin), Matias Torres (viola), and Fermín Garcia (cello) gave to their brand-new string quartet. No wonder, as all four were born near the sea, and this name expresses their connection to it. Ondine is derived from the Latin word for wave: unda. Ondine is the collective name for the mythological water nymphs, such as Limnades, Naiads, Nereids, Hydriads, and Sirens. It is from these supernatural female beings that this Maastricht-based quartet draws its intention to musically seduce the audience. Rest assured, there’s no need to tie yourself to a mast, as Odysseus once had to, to continue his journey home to his beloved Penelope. But hopefully, you will: fasten seatbelts!

Lied Class Concert

Programme
Robert Schumann
Op. 39 Liederkreis
Op. 48 Dichterliebe

About the programme
Joseph von Eichendorff and Heinrich Heine were two giants of the German literary scene in the 19th Century, and in turn, they inspired Robert Schumann to write two of his most iconic and well-loved song cycles: Liederkreis op.39 and Dichterliebe. Dealing with such themes as love, loss, social alienation and the desire to belong, the themes in these songs are as relevant today as they were when first written two centuries ago.
Join us, students from Conservatorium Maastricht's Liedclass as we present these two powerful, moving masterpieces.
Under the guidance of Abigail Richards, we dedicate ourselves to the art of Lied, and our aim is to do the bridge between text and sound, bringing each poem to life through musical expression.
We would be delighted to welcome you on Sunday, May 4th at 11:30 at Theater aan het Vrijthof.
