We are proud to announce that Conservatorium Maastricht double bass student Roberto Leal Rivero has successfully auditioned for the NJO Nationaal Jeugdorkest. He has been selected as Tutti for the upcoming winter project and will take on the role of Co-Principal during the summer project.
Roberto shares that his motivation to audition came from a desire to gain a “fresh and meaningful experience” with an orchestra he greatly admires:
“I’m genuinely looking forward to sharing music and connecting with new people in the orchestra.”
The audition, held in Utrecht, was a memorable moment:
“It was smooth and pleasant. The audition was well-organized, and the team there was incredibly kind and welcoming.”
For the summer project, Roberto is excited to take on the Co-Principal position:
“It’s an important role in the section because it helps guide the group and support the orchestra as a whole. The double bass section plays a key part in shaping the foundation and direction of the ensemble, and I’m excited to contribute to that.”
Roberto is eager to collaborate with new musicians, explore fresh ideas, and tour the country he has come to appreciate deeply:
“I can’t wait to perform Mahler 5 at such an emblematic concert hall as Het Concertgebouw this August. I’m also happy to visit iconic cities in the winter like Utrecht, Heerlen, Haarlem, Nijmegen, and Apeldoorn.”
We congratulate Roberto on this wonderful achievement and look forward to following his artistic journey with NJO.
