Master
Trombone

Become a first-class brass player in the vibrant Euregional city of Maastricht. The three brass teachers at the Jazz Department will train you to become a skilled section player and soloist in a jazz combo setting, big band, trombone ensemble (Jazz & Classical), World Music or contemporary ensemble, by exposing you to a broad musical palette and providing you with the tools to develop your own musical path. Apart from developing solid instrument-specific skills, you will receive practical and theoretical training in improvisation, as this is indispensable in expressing your musical story.

In the Master’s programme, you will focus on: The purpose of the two-year internationally-oriented Master of Music  is to deepen your experience, practice and knowledge of jazz and beyond. Our approach focuses on experimentation through practice-based and performance-based research connected to your main subject and your personal and professional goals in music. Building knowledge that will prepare you for life as a musician in today’s society. At the end of each year you will present a portfolio, discussing the various courses you have attended and subjects researched in relation to your studies. Finally, you will present a programme on a professional stage at an external venue. This final exam expresses your artistic identity in an overall concept of presentation, organization and promotion.
