Abigail Richards

British pianist Abigail Richards (1979) is a specialist in vocal repertoire, having worked extensively both as a repetiteur in opera houses and as an accompanist. She gives song recitals frequently both in The Netherlands and abroad, in venues such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam (Grote and Kleine Zaal), Carré, De Toonzaal and Festival des Arts Lyriques in Aix en Provence, plus appearances on television and radio. She was a prizewinner at the Concertgebouw/Debuut competition and International Vocal Competition. She has participated in or accompanied many masterclasses with singers and pianists including Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quasthoff and Irwin Gage (all at Concertgebouw), Julius Drake, Rudolf Jansen, Wlofgang Holzmair, Wolfram Rieger and Christa Ludwig amongst others.

As a repetiteur Abigail has worked for De Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera Trionfo, De Nationale Opera(Amsterdam) and the Stanislavski-Danchenko Theatre (Moscow). She has also been a competition pianist for the IVC, Deutekom and Belvedere competitions and performed continuo during the Robeco Summer Nights series.
