Classical Saxophone

Eva van Grinsven

Since 2016 Eva has been a teacher of classical saxophone at Conservatorium Maastricht.

In 2008 Eva graduated cum laude with Arno Bornkamp at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In the same year she won the Vriendenkransconcours competition at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with her duo Sax & Stix. Later, with the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, Eva added both the Jury and Audience Prizes of the Dutch Classical Talent Award 2013 and the Kersjes Prize 2015.
Both the debut CD by Sax & Stix and the 3 CDs by the Berlage Saxophone Quartet received jubilant reviews from the Dutch and international music press.
Eva's passion for saxophone music from the 1920s/30s also led to performances and CD recordings with the Dudok Quartet and the trio Café Dansant.

Driven by their shared passion for Russian music, Eva has been working with pianist Helena Basilova since 2014. Their CD ´Rendez-vous Russe´ (also with Maria Milstein & Lars Niederstrasser) won the renowned German ´Echo Klassik Preis 2017´.
Eva regularly plays as a substitute with orchestras such as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. She also performs as a soloist with for example the Doelen Ensemble and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra (Latvia).
